Weekend In Estes Park

We spend last weekend in Estes Park. It is about a 3 hour drive from us. Parker did a decent job behaving in the car, it is just hard for him to sit for that long of a time. He also will not sleep more than 30 minutes in the car so trying to go over his nap hour doesn't help at all. We stayed in the vacation cabin my grandparents have owned since I was a kid. It is in a very nice quiet place along the river.

Parkers favorite thing to do was feed the "chippies" He got the biggest kick out of it. Last year was the first time he fed them and he remembered.

We went into the Rocky Mountain National Park for the day. The weather was great and we just got out and explored

Parker had to have a flower and then with Nicks encouragement tossed it into the stream

Can you see us?

His little legs got tired

He had more fun jumping off the rocks

This is a bench that was dedicated to my aunt coco in her memory. It is around the lake and at the spot she liked to fish. we went here as kids to try and fish.

View Coco loved so much from the bench

Hanging out in the cabin

We visited the Stanly hotel. Haunted hotel that was the scene for the movie the shining.

Hanging out by the cabin, looking for chippies and enjoying the view and peaceful river

View behind/beside the cabin

He drew a lot of attention sitting here because he was so cute sitting so still and waiting for the chippies. They kept coming to him because he was sitting there for a while. I was cracking open the peanuts for him so the chipmunks would come back quicker and Parker kept eating the peanuts I gave him.

Fathers Day and more

For fathers day the three of us went to Green Mountain Falls for Brunch. It is a little town about 20 minutes west of us in the mountains with a little ma and pa type place with yummy breakfast. Very pretty town. It was a nice relaxing morning. We relaxed the rest of the day and the had a barbecue in the backyard for dinner. Parker made Nick a snack plate. He painted it and put his hand print on it. when you ask Parker what does dada say his response is "dont touch" so we wrote "dada snack, dont touch" on the plate.

Nicks mom, Lynn, sent Maine lobster for Fathers day. Nick sent me a picture at work of two lobster on our kitchen floor. I was not sure what was going on when I saw lobster on my kitchen floor. Parker was not sure what to think about the lobster. Nick really enjoyed them!!! I could not bring myself to try them after seeing them squirming around....ewwww

Loves his big bear

I took parker on a hike with some girlfriends. I borrowed a friends backpack and it was Parkers first time packed up on my back. He had so much fun and it was great to see him excited about his surroundings. Hopefully we get to do it again.

White Water Rafting

Nick and I got an opportunity to go white water rafting all day while a friend watched Parker. It is a very rare occurrence for us to get time to do things just the two of us so we were happy to take the offer. We went on an all day advanced trip with a few friends and several friends of friends. There were some rough rapids that made it so exciting. We ended up puncturing a hole in the raft which caused some issues trying to get to shore where we could pull the raft out of the water. I actually ended up getting thrown out and pulled down stream until the raft caught up to me and the team pull me in. I got pulled under a few times making it hard to catch my breath, so that was a little scary.
